The Guangzhou Loong Lions (simplified Chinese: 广州龙狮; traditional Chinese: 廣州龍獅; pinyin: Guǎngzhōu Lóng Shī) are a Chinese professional basketball team based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. They play in the Southern Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

History

The team was founded in November 2000 as Shaanxi Gaitianli Kylins by the Xi'an Dongsheng Group. In August 2001, they won the "B" league championship, and were promoted to the CBA. In the 2004–05 season, the Shaanxi Kylins finished in fifth place in the North Division, and were out of the playoffs. In 2005–06, they finished sixth, and were once again out of the playoffs. The team was scheduled to participate in the 2008 season of the International Basketball League (IBL). They were replaced by the Shanxi Brave Dragons.

In 2010, the Shaanxi Kylins moved from Xi'an to Foshan, and renamed themselves the Foshan Dralions. The club opted to start rendering its English name as "Long-Lions" rather than "Dralions" before the start of the 2014–15 season.

In 2016, the Foshan Long-Lions moved from Foshan to Guangzhou, and renamed themselves the Guangzhou Long-Lions. In 2017, the Nanhai Long-Lions were founded as the affiliate team. The team competes in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).

Basketbalový klub Kanton Long-Lions (čínsky: 广东隆狮; pchin-jin: Guǎngdōng Lóngshī), dříve známý jako Guangdong Southern Tigers, je čínský profesionální basketbalový klub se sídlem v Kantonu v provincii Kuang-tung, který hraje v Čínské basketbalové asociaci (CBA). Klub byl založen v roce 1993 a je jedním ze zakládajících členů CBA.

Long-Lions jsou jedním z nejúspěšnějších týmů v historii CBA, vyhráli 11 mistrovských titulů, což je nejvíce ze všech týmů v lize. Klub vyhrál také 4 čínské basketbalové poháry a 2 čínské basketbalové ligy.

Domácí arénou Long-Lions je Huayi Brother Sports Center v Kantonu, které má kapacitu 18 000 diváků. Klub vlastní čínská společnost Dongguan Long-Lions Sports, která také vlastní fotbalový klub Dongguan Dongcheng.

Současným hlavním trenérem Long-Lions je Du Feng, bývalý čínský reprezentant, který vedl tým k vítězství v šampionátu CBA v letech 2019 a 2020. Mezi významné hráče Long-Lions patří Yi Jianlian, Zhou Peng a Hu Mingxuan.

Long-Lions jsou jedním z nejpopulárnějších basketbalových týmů v Číně a mají velkou fanouškovskou základnu po celé zemi. Klub je známý svým rychlým a útočným stylem hry a je považován za jeden z nejlepších týmů v CBA.
